Emergency Response Planning

In the course of business operations, the emphasis should focus on Loss Prevention rather than Response to an Emergency Situation.

Regardless of how well engineered, constructed and operated a particular site, there is always a remote chance that something will go wrong. Being prepared for such eventualities can make the difference between a minor incident with limited and controlled consequences and a major disaster with loss of life, widespread media attention, massive lawsuits, and public outrage.

Developing an Emergency Response Program covering all aspects of your operation ensures a timely, co-coordinated response to effectively protect the health response action. public, properly and the environment. It will assist in making sound decisions under highly stressful circumstances; ensuring competence, and instilling confidence in response personnel.

Purpose and Scope of an Effective ERP Program

With the development of an Emergency Response Plan, a Company will be properly prepared to:

    • Ensure immediate, competent responses to and handling of an emergency situation;
    • Minimize danger to the public, employees and contractors;
    • Establish and maintain effective communications with all parties in an emergency;
    • Maximize the use of the combined resources of the Company, its affiliates, regulatory agencies and other outside services;
    • Minimize damage to properly and the environment;
    • Provide authoritative, timely information to news media;
    • Preserve relevant records for the subsequent inquiry into the cause mid circumstances of the emergency.

Justification for Expenditure

We are sensitive to value and costs; we work hard to ensure that our products are not just for the ERP. Wherever possible, we strive to produce a product that will be useful in a variety of other applications within a client's organization.

    • Emergency Response Planning is an integral part of the Company's Public Relations Program fostering confidence and responsible corporate citizenship with government, regulatory agencies, the public and in the business community.
    • Emergency Response Planning, through its Audit component, provides an ongoing assessment of daily operations, identifying hazardous products, unsafe facilities or operations and corrective actions. Doing so raises awareness and promotes remedial measures.
    • Emergency Response Planning, through its Mapping component, provides accurate facilities maps and as-builts for all Company operations. Accurate mapping is the platform linking various databases (Public Consultations, Pipeline Operating and Maintenance, integrity Programs, Materials Management, etc) together in a fully integrated Geographical Information System (GIS).

Cost control and Project Reporting

Prior to starting a project, we work with the client to develop a comprehensive project scope, cost estimate / budget. We then perform to that scope and costing. We provide detailed, weekly project progress and cost reports (via fax or e-mail) to keep clients up to date and to ensure that (here arc no surprises along the way.

    Emergency Response Plan Development Management & Maintenance

    An effective Emergency Response Plan Program forms an integral component of the operator's total safety and loss control program by identifying risks, developing incident procedures and outlining contingency measures aimed at minimizing the effect of an emergency situation.

      Planning

      • Corporate Emergency Plans
      • Sweet/ Sour Gas (H2S) Well Drilling/Completions/ Workover Plans
      • Sweet / Sour Gas (H2S) Facility Plans
      • Sweet / Sour Gas (H2S) & HV/LVP Pipeline Plans

      Simplicity
      Emergency Response Plans are designed from an Implementor’s Perspective" with response data assembled in the same sequence as an emergency would generally unfold. A typical plan addresses the site-specific Issues of:
        • Field Operations
        • Emergency Definitions
        • Responsibility of key Implementor
        • Safely Equipment Requirements
        • Isolating and Monitoring of the Emergency Hazard Area
        • Evacuation or Shelter Criteria and Procedures
        • Communications

      Pro-Critical Meetings

      We assist our clients through out the process, providing guidance and expertise at company on-site critical meetings.

      Hazard & Risk Assessments

      The nature of the oil and gas industry involves a wide range of potential risks. Successful management of these risks can be achieved if (hey are proactively identified and systematically eliminated or reduced to acceptable levels.

        Facilities that handle hazardous material must undertake a level of emergency planning that is commensurate with both on-site risks to their employees and off-site risks to their surrounding communities.

        Our Risk Assessment Worksheet is a 20 page workbook which leads the client's Held staff through an analysis of their Held operations. The worksheet is an excellent workshop on the roles and responses in the Emergency Plans, and the process results in a comprehensive picture of each fields' risks and exposures. After working through the Risk Assessment Worksheet staff "get the whole picture" and through the process build the foundation for the Emergency Response Plan.

Each year, confined space work results in numerous accidents and fatalities.

Regulations targeting confined spaces vary from province to province, state to state and even country to country.

The common goal of these regulations is to prevent loss of life, protect the environment and optimize production.

It is the obligation of the employer to provide safe and proven operating procedures, training, as well as rescue procedures if need arises.

Safety Boss offers four levels of confined space training and safety management programs designed to address the workers safety while working in and around confined spaces. The following is a range of courses available through Safety Boss:

Level I
Awareness

This half-day (4 hour) course is designed to give the individuals the basic understanding of confined spaces and hazards associated with it.

Level II

This one-day (8 hour) course is designed to prepare any individuals who may work in, commission work or supervise work and in the event of a mishap, rescue someone from a confined space. This course will include the use of Safety Boss' Confined Space Training Simulator designed for 'hands-on' exercises to simulate rescue techniques that may be required in case of mishap.

Level III

Advanced
This two day (16 hour) course is intended for individuals who may be asked on a regular basis to do stand-by safety or rescue watch. The components of this course are primarily the same as the Level II, but adds an extra day for more advanced rescue scenarios.
