H2S Services Print E-mail

Safety Boss was the first company in Canada to specialize in H2S Services. For over 70 years a large percentage of Canada gas production has been from wells containing H2S. In some wells routine gas production has been maintained for decades with H2S concentrations of over 90%.

h2s equipment

Starting in 1956 it introduced the first “H2S package” or “air trailers” as they are more commonly known today. The original package, which also included fire fighting, first aid and rescue equipment and was designed for the protection of drilling and service rig crews working on sour wells in the large Pembina field near Drayton Valley in Alberta, Canada.
Since thatsmall beginning Safety Boss has become a world leader in frontline H2S technology. The company has supplied H2S specialists and H2S equipment in numerous countries on five different continents. It has developed it own line of H2S packages and associated accessory equipment packages, which are sold worldwide. The development of this equipment has been a continually evolving process that directly results from Safety Boss’s own on-going and hands-on experience with the use of these systems. As a result of the companies program of continual improvement in 2000 Safety Boss completely changed all of its breathing air equipment to high-pressure (4500 psi) systems.

Critical Sour Drilling Operations

“Critical Sour Drilling” is a term used in Canada for drilling operations that have the potential to encounter dangerous volumes and concentrations of H2S. The primary focus of a critically sour emergency response plan (ERP) involves the ability to deal with an uncontrolled release of H2S. Safety Boss has specialized in these types of operations since the inception of this category of drilling and servicing activities.
We don’t just rent and service the equipment we are also the primary users. Over the years the company’s H2S & fire fighting Specialists have logged several thousand hours of accident free operations while working in actual lethal concentrations of H2S. In one incident alone a Safety Boss crew worked over two months in a concentration of 28% H2S, completing more than 2000 hours of work in breathing air equipment. Due to the extreme toxicity of hydrogen sulfide large-scale H2S recovery operations are very complex and no other company has the depth of real-time experience in staging these operations. Almost all of Safety Boss’s H2S Specialists have been involved in H2S blowout recovery operations therefore they also have this invaluable real H2S exposure.
